The AA Archives are pleased to announce the donation last week of a set of drawings by Brian Waldock. Brian studied at the AA from 1947, taking a year out in 1950 to travel and work in Africa with fellow AA student, Richard Hughes. Almost immediately after graduation, Waldock moved to Kenya, setting up his own practice and teaching at the University of Nairobi. The donated portfolio is especially interesting because it includes a student project for a ‘Colonial Hostel, E. Africa’, the subject choice presaging the formation of the AA’s ground breaking ‘Tropical Department’ by several years.
