Le Corbusier ebooks in the AA Library

To support students, staff and members at this time, the AA Library has extended its ebook collection. One of the recent collections we acquired through DeGruyter Ebooks is the Le Corbusier collection.

The Le Corbusier collection includes secondary works originally published by Birkhauser in the early 2000s, including monographs on key buildings such as the Villa Savoye, the chapel at Ronchamp, the Villas La Roche-Jeanneret, Unité d’habitation at Marseilles and the Monastery of Sainte Marie de La Tourette. It also includes works such as The Modulor and Modulor 2 and Une petite maison, by the Fondation Le Corbusier.

The collection also contains the famous 8-volume Œuvres complètes (Complete works) by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. Originally published between 1929-70 in a number of editions, these form a carefully edited record of Le Corbusier’s works and buildings. The volumes consist of a mix of sketches, plans, photos and texts, with text in French, English and German. They have been admired by many leading architects including Norman Foster and Michael Manfredi.

The ebooks complement the Library’s important collection of printed works by Le Corbusier. These, and rare books about his work, are part of the Special Collections in the AA Library. This collection has been built up over the last nine decades and includes the first English translation of Vers une architecture (1923) which was translated as Towards a new architecture (1927).
